Kate is the author of two medical books aimed at lay audiences. She enjoys creating clear written pieces that inform and entertain. Known as the “Menopause Guide” on About.com, she often blogged about the trials and opportunities of the menopausal years. (Her favorite was titled “Two Menopausal Women Walk Into a Bar.”) She is a master at translating complex health information into easily understood, user-friendly content.
As board president of “Civility First,” a grassroots organization in Washington State, Kate developed training on “Bridging Our Differences,” which offered simple, doable techniques for holding uncomfortable conversations with people who disagree with us without fracturing the relationship. Although she is no longer on the board, you can see her simple take on staying civil most of the time in this TEDx talk. (click on the lotus image)
