Kate Bracy is a gifted writer. As we follow Melanie's narration, we cannot help but be touched by her tale. Sometimes naïve but always humorous, Melanie is an endearing storyteller who becomes very real. Indeed, it is amazing how the author is able to paint her characters so vividly in a few straightforward words.
This is a novel about friendship and love - a dangerously familiar theme. However, through Kate Bracy's unique voice, we find ourselves, in spite of ourselves, hopeful about that crazy little thing called love.

From the very first page this book grabbed my interest. The language, the humor, and the plot compete for top billing in my opinion. The characters come alive immediately. There is no "warm up" period - it is instant. The relationships in the book are intriguing and the outcomes are not at all predictable which makes this read refreshing, there is nothing commonplace about this story. Through twists and turns and surprises and heartaches - I loved it all. Bravo !

Solid characters. Genuine dialogue. Plot themes we can all relate to. I am a voracious and passionate reader, but rarely get emotional over a book. Was in tears by the end of this one. Bracy has taken a difficult matter and made it bearable, shown the brighter side of darkness, looked at it from a new perspective that I found highly comforting.

I'm not the review sort of guy. I don't answer "yes" to the customer survey for feedback. I just don't so when I take the time to sit here and give a review, well then, you can believe this book made an impression on me. . .
I read most of it on my daily bus trips to and from work. The people around me would see me laugh out loud one minute and then have tears streaming down my cheeks the next. . . I had friends who had read this book before me and they too said the same thing but then, in the back of my mind I am thinking..."Well I am sure it is good but it won't have that affect on me." But boy was I wrong!
I am one of those people who when he finds a great book slows down to read it because I don't want it to end. I try to make it last and quickly after I started getting involved in the story, the plot, the warm characters I started to slow down. I knew these characters, they became my friends, my family. But alas, as all stories come to an end, so too did this one and sob? let me tell you..I was sobbing..shamefully! or should I say non shamefully. (can I say that? ;-) ) To reach the final chapter, read the final words, well, I felt I was leaving a good friend. To those who loved Sex in the City, you might relate when I say..when that show ended I felt I lost some friendships and that too is how I felt when I finally finished this book.
So, if you want a great book to read or a great give to give to a loved one, then this is it! I highly recommend it. Kate Bracy, you are a wonderful writer and I look forward to whatever else you write.

I smiled, laughed, cried, and cheered while reading this wonderfully funny and touching novel. The characters are believable and possess individual flaws and beauties; they have depth. I recognize aspects and traits of so many of the dear (and not so dear) women and men in my own life in several of the novel's characters. The nuances and unique details of relationships are beautifully and honestly portrayed. When I finished the book, I immediately ordered a copy for my mom and emailed several friends urging them to read this book. It is the sort of book that one will always remember; it illustrates all that we know to be true about how difficult yet wonderful life really is. It celebrates love in all its forms and how love shapes and defines that precarious journey called life. As Kate Bracy eloquently expresses, love is indeed "that wacky force that glues us all together and makes us senseless idiots and wise old birds.

I couldn't put this book down. It warmed my heart, made me laugh, made me cry (several times), and left me looking at life with a more gentle, loving outlook. I identified completely with the thoughts and feelings and situations in the story line, but envy the awareness and candor of the characters. They are much more loving and forthright than I am, but I related to them completely - their grace, humor, and humanity. These characters will stay with me forever. Give us more, Kate!

Kate Bracy has managed to capture perfectly the fluidity, heartbreak, and resilience of family and friendship; the immediacy and intangibility of lust, love and limerence. A tale, on its surface, of conversations which anyone might easily have had, a repetition of modern archetypes to belie the subtle shift toward a confrontation with ideas and emotions of which we are simultaneously ignorant and all too intimately aware.
A tale of love, loss, and second chances at redemption.

You know when you're into a good book, you just keep turning the pages. That's how it is with "That Crazy Little Thing." I hope you're proud of yourself, Kate Bracy. You made a grown man cry. You ARE a writer. I loved this book and know that all who read it will feel the same.
