Kate Bracy is an award-winning novelist, a blogger, and a medical writer. She grew up in the small town of Ogdensburg, N.Y. on the St. Lawrence River, where she learned to swim in frigid water and against the current. She found this to be excellent preparation for life.
She currently lives on a lovely island outside of Seattle with her family and their Golden Doodle, Pemma.
That Crazy Little Thing is Kate's award-winning debut novel. It's a touching, humorous, and well-written story of new love, old friendships, and old and new loss. She is currently working on her second book.
Kate is a freelance medical writer and TEDx presenter who works with medical personnel and organizations to translate medical information into easy-to-understand language.
She also consults with medical professionals and teams to improve communication skills between providers and clients.
Here’s the thing. I had to come face-to-face with death to decide to walk arm-in-arm with life. I came here kicking and screaming, only to find it’s exactly where I want to be.
A year ago, I would have denied that romantic love was anything more than good marketing. I certainly would have scoffed at anyone who carried a torch for more than a decade, never knowing that she (or he) was beloved. I would have happily told you that daughters break your heart as thoroughly as ex-boyfriends, and I would have suggested that best friends are your surest bet for any kind of happy ending.
But some surprises sweep through like Dorothy’s tornado, turning everything around in a topsy-turvy gale and set it back on the ground facing a whole new direction. That’s how it happened one fall. Four short months that left me a shaken girl.
We’ll start on that fall day when the leaves rustled under my window. It was just another day. It was before I learned that my friend Donna was holding secrets. Before sitting in a chemo center reminded me that life is quick, and that today is your best shot at every kind of love, so keep your eyes open.

Everything can change in an instant. It is incredibly important not to find ourselves living with regrets because we didn't let someone know how much he or she means to us.
That Crazy Little Thing tells a story that will totally captivate your attention. This book is so well written, I am amazed that this is the first book for this author. I hope that she continues to write.

Kate Bracy is a gifted writer. As we follow Melanie's narration, we cannot help but be touched by her tale. Sometimes naïve but always humorous, Melanie is an endearing storyteller who becomes very real. Indeed, it is amazing how the author is able to paint her characters so vividly in a few straightforward words.
This is a novel about friendship and love—a dangerously familiar theme. However, through Kate Bracy's unique voice, we find ourselves, in spite of ourselves, hopeful about that crazy little thing called love.

Solid characters. Genuine dialogue. Plot themes we can all relate to. I am a voracious and passionate reader but rarely get emotional over a book. I was in tears by the end of this one. Bracy has. . . shown the brighter side of darkness, looked at it from a new perspective that I found highly comforting.
