Kate Bracy
I grew up in Northern New York -- a small town called Ogdensburg.
After getting a degree in English Education, it didn't take too many years of unemployment and substitute teaching to make me curious about nursing as a career. As a result, I have a Master's Degree in family nursing, and am certified as both a Women's Health and as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
My day job was as a public health professional in Seattle, Washington. I worked in many capacities -- nurse manager, staff development and nurse practitioner. I worked with many teams and clinical staff to improve communication skills so that the important work they were doing could happen more effectively.
My personal life includes my home on a lovely island with my dear wife, nearby daughters, magical grandchildren, a golden doodle to walk with, and enough extracurricular activities to keep me busier than I expected.
Although retired from nursing, I continue to write and teach. I teach in areas of communication and health, and have a second novel in the works.
I'm also the president of "Civility First... So We Can Work Together," a grassroots nonprofit here in Island County, Washington. You can learn more about us here.
